Mike Flood Imposter Targets Norfolk Resident

Lincoln - Attorney General Doug Peterson is issuing a consumer alert regarding an individual or a group of individuals posing as former Nebraska State Senator, Mike Flood, and attempting to solicit “charitable donations” from members of the public.

Our report indicates that the scammer identified himself as Mike Flood when contacting a resident in the Norfolk area. He then proceeded to ask the resident if she would be interested in donating money to benefit veterans. Mike Flood’s office confirmed that they are not soliciting charitable donations at this time.

Phone scammers often impersonate public figures or government officials in an attempt to coerce you into sending them money or to steal your personal information. Scammers are getting bolder, more creative and more aggressive and can mask their true identities to convince unsuspecting victims their demands for money or information are legitimate.  Regardless of their tactics, their goal is the same: to trick you into losing your hard earned money.
